In the last ten years, the Steppin’ has swept like a brushfire into every corner of the country. But this tidal wave cannot be stopped, and its path can best be charted by examining the the History of Steppin’; the vast unseen world that lies at the heart of the Dance and is the basis for the entire outspreading culture.
This film will explore all of the key places, persons, whens and hows of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and new millennium. Linking it all together from the seeds of the 50’s til the complex power moving trios and quads of the dance today. It’s going to be all laid out in the best way for the viewer and everyone should own a copy of this great film about a down to earth by yet highly elegant dance and community.
It is a long and winding road that has brought us to today's landscape of Steppin’, Internet-fueled revolution and online blogs, boards and websites. And to explore this world is to better understand the full implications of where we now find ourselves and what may be the best way forward.
After over 10 years of research, which has taken us all around the country, we found that everyone had something very important and insightful to say about the dance. We have video and audio interviews, recordings, photos and more that have all surfaced, shaping the story to be presented. It seems that the more we dig up, the more we are led to new clues answering the who’s, when’s, what’s, where’s and why’s of the History of Steppin’.Our feature documentary will include this material, nearly all of it seen or heard here for the first time.
We would be honored to have your assistance in completing this heartfelt project.
This has been a life long journey for me and the passion that I have for this project is immeasurable. This will assure the absolute best quality possible for our Feature Documentary Project.”Steppin Tony Dow.
We have taken the time to consult with the “Historians” and ”Legends” of the dance, to get an accurate and authentic account of the True History of the Dance.
The Title
“Keep On Steppin” was chosen as the name of this project because it reflects the true nature of this Dance Culture.Throughout the changing times whether good or bad this Dance has always found a way to thrive, grow and stay current.  It is also a popular phrase amongst the Steppers.
